Cable Route Inspection — Protecting Submarine Cables from Damage

What is Cable Route Inspection?

KCC carries out ROV and diver inspection of submarine cable routes to confirm burial depth, detect cable exposure, and identify areas of damage or risk. Early detection of cable exposure allows protection measures to be implemented before damage occurs.

What's Included

  • ROV survey of cable route to confirm alignment and detect exposure
  • Diver inspection of exposed cable sections
  • Measurement of burial depth at defined intervals
  • Identification of areas of cable exposure and damage risk
  • Formal survey report with findings and recommendations

Why This Matters

Submarine cables are vulnerable to damage from vessel anchors, fishing gear, and seabed movement. Regular route inspections allow exposure and damage risks to be identified and addressed before they result in cable failure.
