Half-Cell Potential Survey — Measuring Cathodic Protection Effectiveness

What is Half-Cell Potential Survey?

KCC carries out underwater half-cell potential surveys using calibrated reference electrodes to measure the electrochemical potential of marine structures and assess whether cathodic protection systems are providing adequate protection.

What's Included

  • Calibration of reference electrode prior to survey
  • Potential readings at defined grid points across the structure
  • Assessment of readings against protection criteria
  • Identification of areas of under-protection or over-protection
  • Formal CP survey report with recommendations

Why This Matters

Cathodic protection systems that are not providing adequate protection allow corrosion to proceed — potentially causing structural damage before the next planned inspection. Regular potential surveys confirm that protection is being maintained.
